The process and methods of making balsamic vinegar can be traced back to the Roman Empire. This vinegar is derived from grape must, while most other popular European vinegars are made from wine. Transforming the vinegar into a glaze involves cooking it over a low heat with sugar until it forms a syrup like consistency. Many other ingredients can be added to the cooking process resulting in an array of different flavored Balsamic Glazes.
